Back from the summit in Long Beach, CA

Well, I made it. I’m completely exhausted, but I’m back with a wealth of knowledge. Chris Poirier and the rest of Perform Better put on a pretty good show! It was awesome to have the best of the best in one place lecturing on health and fitness topics. I’ll highlight a few things that stuck out:

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but pretty cool topics.

1. Michol Dalcourt really has a great way of explaining movement preparation as it relates to the hip and foot. I just wish there was more time for his presentation because we didn’t get to the third area he wanted to lecture on, the thoracic spine.

2. The foot has 26 bones, about 1/4 of your bones are in your feet. They must be fairly important and as trainers we should be paying more attention to them.

3. Eric Cressey’s assessments for the shoulder and hip are awesome and very detailed. I’m glad the Titleist Performance Institute taught me how to use the goniometer properly.

4. Invest in yourself and your education, no explanation needed.

5. Tood Wright and the rest of the team at Train4theGame really brought the core to light and explained some pretty cool techniques as to how they train the core.

This list is very small in relation to the knowledge that was being thrown around. The networking alone was worth the trip to Long Beach. Thank you to the Perform Better team for putting on a great show!
